Education

Plam co-designs and runs educational activities, workshops and practical sessions based on the study’s research themes. Each activity is conceived and carried out through direct engagement with the host community.
Plam specialises in training programmes for schools, academia and the professional sector.

ROOTS is a programme of shared living, experimentation and discussion designed for young people aged between 18 and 35 who wish to explore the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Natural Park on foot, adopting a careful, critical and creative perspective.
An immersive experience involving walking, observing, listening and sharing, in which the journey itself becomes a means of learning and transformation.
Over the course of five days’ walking, the participants covered part of the Giro del Monte route, experiencing the local area first-hand: sleeping in tents or basic accommodation, cooking together, sharing informal moments and learning experiences, and building relationships.
Each participant developed their own perspective through the medium of the sketchbook. At the end of their personal research journey, the sketchbooks were brought together in a collective exhibition as part of the Festiva Habitat in Pennabilli.
Throughout the project, Plam supported the participants in creating their notebooks and helped to co-design the final exhibition.

The project involves conducting a number of experiments designed to evaluate the legibility and specific content of certain visual aids (maps, written messages, etc.), and the flow of verbal and non-verbal language that people use when discussing extreme weather events, with the aim of gathering information on how to improve risk communication, and propose effective training programmes and mapping initiatives.

The approach adopted is interdisciplinary; it draws on the fields of communication design, anthropology, the study of verbal and non-verbal language, and emergency management.

Plam Studio has designed and set up a graphic design and photography workshop as part of Inclusì, a project aimed at engaging students with cognitive difficulties, implemented at the IIS Luigi Einaudi in Ferrara. The workshop offers a graphic design course that combines observation, drawing, colour exploration and photography. Nature serves as the starting point for developing a more attentive, conscious and sensitive eye: a teacher capable of offering an inexhaustible supply of shapes, colours, patterns and inspiration. The course alternates between outdoor sessions, hands-on activities and design synthesis, following a progression that mirrors the working method of a graphic designer: observation, collection, interpretation and composition.
