C-Display VAM25

VAM, Vivere A-Metropolitano, is the first international festival dedicated to Italian provinces. From 31 March to 13 April 2025, a series of talks, exhibitions, river tours, floating installations, workshops and keynote lectures held across the region will provide an opportunity to explore its unique urban character and amphibious landscape, and to recognise the potential of the 'provincial' dimension.

The initiative is organised by the HPO association and realised within the framework of Vivere A-Metropolitano: architectures, ideas, landscapes in the province, supported by Festival Architettura - Edition 3, promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, with the patronage and contribution of the Municipality of Ferrara and the patronage of the Emilia Romagna Region.

The C-DISPLAY VAM25 exhibition system returns the outcomes of the activities that took place during the days of the festival.
The name stands for Cyborg Display, inspired by the themes presented at the festival and the concept of the ‘cyborg territory’, referred to by Wu Ming 1 in his book "Gli uomini pesce", which was presented on previous dates.

The exhibition system consists of a vertical and a horizontal element, both resulting from pre-existing structures used for different purposes and functions.

The vertical structure was transformed into a surface on which elements such as fabrics, drapes and flags could be projected and displayed.
The horizontal structure was reinforced and modified in order to accommodate 9 suspended shelves, on which virtual devices and material objects can be alternated.
In low light, the transparent Plexiglass panels on the shelves reflect the contents of the display units across their entire surface, creating an immersive effect.
The aluminium structures are designed to be easily assembled, dismantled and stored, which makes setting up and replicating the exhibition easier.
