Poli Polo is a laboratory of innovation, prototyping and digital experimentation founded by Plam Studio at the spaces of Laboratorio Aperto Ferrara.
A space that enables businesses, professionals and members of the public to develop projects in product design, graphic design, photography, packaging and exhibition design, by providing access to technology and expertise. A creative hub where people can experiment and test their ideas, situated in the city centre within the former Teatro Verdi.

From pop-up to Lab
Plam Studio designed the brand identity, a pop-up event and the development and evolution of the Polipolo workshop over the following years.
The pop-up event was entirely organised and designed by Plam; the spaces, structures and display units were created using the technology available in the workshop.
The event featured four ‘demonstration areas’ designed to show visitors the potential of the new Polipolo space. These included a 3D printing area, a photography area, a virtual reality headset area, and a research and development area, where visitors were introduced to the experience of Phylor s.r.l., a manufacturer of food supplements made from dried mushrooms, which, in collaboration with Polipolo, has developed natural packaging made from mycelium.
Polipolo was founded with the aim of giving the public the opportunity to develop product design projects – and more besides – including the associated communication and promotion, whilst seeking to combine the various services of research, prototyping and dissemination into a single package.
During the pop-up event, visitors were invited to experiment with the available Polipolo technologies through a variety of activities. Afterwards, they could provide feedback to help Plam improve the services.
